Everyone knew InuYasha hated the night of the new moon, they knew he hated losing his power, and they knew he hated feeling like a weak human.  And cycle after cycle his friends gathered around him to keep him company and help keep him safe.  Sometimes he went to Kagome's time but if that weren't possible he and his companions would find a cave to make camp in, and Kagome would host what she liked to call a "sleep over."

Kagome explained that in her time she and her friends would have these "sleep overs" where they would sit up all night telling stories, watching movies, eating popcorn and other snacks, trying to scare each other with stories, and practicing "make overs."  Miroku thought it best not participate in the make overs but the rest sounded like a good way to pass a long night.  InuYasha simply replied with his usual, "Keh," and went along with her idea.

For their first sleep over Shippou was left with Kaede and they picked a cave close to the village in case they were needed.  Kagome was so excited she went all out.  She brought pajamas, pillows and sleeping bags back for each of them, and for supper she brought hot dogs, buns, ketchup, mustard and chips.  For snacks she brought root beer and something called Jiffy Pop so she could make popcorn over the fire.  To entertain them she brought her usual deck of cards along with two board games she said were popular in her time: Life and Clue.

The group played Life first.  This game was especially exciting for Miroku because you could gain a wife.  He wanted to know how many wives he could have which earned him a bonk on the head from Sango.  Once the slayer had gained 4 children and no husband the monk began to tease her about the origins of her children, earning him a second bonk on the head.  Kagome was winning and cheering everyone else along, while InuYasha was bringing up the rear.  This did not settle well for his competitive nature so he called the game a stupid waste of time and quit playing.  Once Sango earned first place they put the game away and moved on to the second board game.

After much prodding InuYasha allowed himself to be persuaded to play Clue.  He found he really enjoyed this game.  Especially when he won more than anyone else.  He wasn't sure what a ball room or a candlestick was, but he didn't care as long as one housed a dead body and the other had killed it.

The games and cards held the group until about 3 a.m.  That's when the girls decided make overs were in order.  Kagome had learned from Kaede to make creams and scrubs from the herbs, fruits and flowers found in InuYasha's Forest, and made several in advance to try on Sango.  She had also brought nail polish for manicures and pedicures.  Unfortunately for Miroku he was the first to fall asleep and got his toes painted a lovely hot pink for his indiscretion.  After seeing what the two sneaky wenches had done to the monk InuYasha decided to scoot far away from them toward the opening of the cave in case he had to make a quick getaway.

Not long after, the girls had given up on make overs and decided to pass time by looking at magazines Kagome always kept in her backpack.  InuYasha watched the sun come up listening to his friend's steady breathing and felt his demon blood return after another new moon.  He considered himself lucky.  Not because he had survived but because he had friends to help him make it though.
